Autumn part 1.

We love autumn here. The leaves changing colours, the chill in the air,the warmer clothing you get to wear

One of our fave things to do at this time,is to visit a park with lots of trees
This year we took a picnic, ham, cheese and tomato quiche and triple chocolate gluten free brownies

A large pile of leaves was gathered

Running on empty

I am a giver. I always have been.
I especially love to make things to give, name banners for new babies, little itty bitty cardigans, shawls, blankets, quilts, handbags and more.

I am also known for donating money, for many causes, parents beds in children’s wards, money to help keep people afloat in tough times, money for dinners, money for just about anything. I would be the first to put my hand in my pocket..sometimes it would just be a few dollars but if I could,it would be $50.

We have often struggled, through a lot of tough times, paying for IVF was hard. Moving meant saving up for a year. We don’t live a lavish lifestyle,we don’t drink at all,we don’t smoke,we don’t bet.
We don’t have expensive tastes,we live a simple life.

But now I’m running on empty.

A good day.

Yesterday was a high energy, low pain day. These come around very rarely.
I get so excited but try to rein myself in from!

I know I will crash the next day but I tried to enjoy it no matter what.

I got up early to take Miss Lizzie to the train as she was off to the city to see the lion King musical. She was so excited. Loves a bit of musical that girl.
Then I went to the supermarket, the post office, the bank and the newsagent.
Then I decided to treat myself a coffee. I went to my fave cafe, chose some magazines to read and sat down. It was lovely.

Then I went to the library, where I got a new card as mine has vanished. I got a great book on crochet and some magazines and some DVDs.

I came home. Did a load of washing, sorts out my meds, did the veggies for tea. At this point I hit the wall. So I sat down to watch a movie and do some knitting.

I know this probably sounds like a ‘normal’ day for most people but for me it was a HUGE day.
I woke this morning very stiff and very sore but it was worth it!

A Japanese adventure

Miss Annie is doing Japanese at school and there is a trip to Japan next year.
The trip is for 2 weeks and costs $2,400,which is pretty good for a 2 weeks overseas holiday.
So Miss Annie came to me with a plan. She wants to earn as much money as she can to put towards the trip. She plans to busk (playing music, her flute in public for tips) once or twice a week, she usually earns about $20 per session which is about 1-2 hrs.
She thought it might be a good idea to go to a local tourist spot where lots of Japanese tourists frequent. So on her sign,it will read” I am earning money to fund a study trip to Japan” this will also be written in Japanese.
I spoke to a Japanese friend and she suggested some phrases Miss Annie could use and also a popular Japanese song she could learn on her flute.
I told Miss Annie that if she could earn half of the money,we would try to find the rest.

So here is my plan so far, most weeks I take the girls out for afternoon tea while waiting for Miss Mary.which costs about $25. If we buy a drink and snack from the supermarket instead,we could halve that amount and it could be put towards the trip. I also get some videos each week,I usually spend $5-$7 so I decided to renew my library card and get them for free.
So there is about $20 per week.
I also have about $20 per week for myself to spend so I will put half of that each week towards the kitty as well.
Any other suggestions to save some extra money? She will also need a passport and some spending money.
If anyone wants to donate, email me and I will give you my paypal account details.
Miss Annie is soooooo excited and I would love for her to go. She is already working hard on her Japanese so she can speak well when she is in Japan. We never had these sort of opportunities when I was at school,so I would be thrilled for my girls to be able to experience another culture.
I love that she had a plan before she came to me to ask about the trip. Forward planner that girl.
